Dior Spring-Summer 2020 Campaign shot by Brigitte Niedermair
The House unveils the Ad Campaign for the Spring-Summer 2020 ready-to-wear collection, revealing a Dior woman who is passionate about nature.
Inspired by photographs of Catherine Dior – the founding couturier’s sister, a strong-willed heroine with boundless courage – Maria Grazia Chiuri created elegant, committed silhouettes like tributes that reinvent Dior’s heritage. In the heart of a poetic grove, with their embroideries and jacquards they portray luxuriant vegetation like a memoir of the botanical species that make up the beauty and diversity of our planet.
Through the lens of Brigitte Niedermair*, the models Selena Forrest and Ruth Bell embody the spirit of these designs, exalting in an esthetic dialogue with revisited House icons like the Bar suit and the Lady Dior and Saddle bags. A veritable ode to gardens, this captivating, sunny series of pictures highlights Dior’s new codes, from tie-dye outfits to the houndstooth check softened in beige.
A subtle décor of wild flowers like a watermark further highlights the philosophy behind the designs, like treasures preserved in a herbarium. This precious flora also delicately unfurls onto the embroidered looks themselves.
With graphic settings and plays on abstraction, the photographer’s contemporary eye sublimates the emblems of Dior style more than ever. This alliance between nature and sisterhood outlines the contours of (re)affirmed femininity.
