With Burgeoning as the theme of 2022 Resort, SHIATZY CHEN looks to the modern straight contour, the most iconic western style in the 1920s, and spices it with the luxurious yet comfortable oriental image, describing at the same time the firm strength and hope of life which picks up from the natural rhythm of the spring, peeking into the beauty of truth from the fortuitous.

In this season, we see Design Director Ms. Shiatzy Chen drawing inspiration from her reflections of the two paintings by artist Sophie Chang, “Flowerful” and “New Shoots”.

The paintings are first laid out as original patterns of SHIATZY CHEN. With the brand’s classic embroidery techniques, the ocean of Wisteria in “Flowerful” is portrayed in plethora while the sheer organza print depicts the light and shadow of the blossoming flowers, echoing the pure of heart in mankind depicted by the painter.

Reflecting the collage and layering of paints in “New Shoot“, the clothing adds force to the paint strokes on the fabric with delicate hand embroideries and original jacquard, increasing levels and thickness to further embody the determination of life with force and context.

The entire palette ranges from warm and refreshing gamboge, tender green, pale pink to eternal black and white laced with golden yarn. The gentle palette flows towards the white and pale blue which dominate this season, coupled with the occasional splash of royal blue, bright orange, and dark green.

Finally, borrowing from “New Shoot” the contrasting bright red and black for color coordination, matte pink, bright orange, and apple green are used throughout different stages in coordination to complete the full palette in the painting.

To kick off this season, the contour sees the cozy and laid-back baggy jacket and hooded top coupled with romantic lace and 100% silk chiffon, followed by applying the classic oriental-style satin dress, two-piece organza items, and full spread print and lace mix to demonstrate the H-Line contour of the 1920s, foreseeing the imminent spring day promenade.

The rhythm and volume of the flared cutting and layering of the wavy curves are illustrated with sheer fabrics, conveying the flowing image of the passing light and shadow.

Finally, the vibrant and sleek cutting portrays how the “New Shoot” breaks through the darkness as a force to conquer the pandemic. Men’s collection has brought new life to SHIATZY CHEN in recent years, and in this season, inspiration is drawn from the strength and firmness in “New Shoot”.

Together, the 100% silk camp collar pajama set, the long lace coat and shirt, the denim jacket, the oversized formal wear and casual jacket, and the interesting wide-leg 3/4 pants and knee-length shorts build the variant and dynamic portrait of the contemporary male. The classic poetic style of the brand is maintained by adopting the oversized contour and bright strong colors, portraying a new men’s look that is both sleek and breezy.

To complete the whole look, we see a low-waist design in many items, with which a waist chain strong in Art Deco style features the clothing of the 1920s.

Accessories have followed the same style with cross brooch and necklace, round brooch and necklace, and Art Deco earrings and bracelet carrying features of the wisteria and “New Shoot”.

The over-arching item in this season is the male and female bucket hat, with knitted mesh fabric, denim, jacquard, and organza, the various materials portraying respectively the different faces of spring. The female shoes draw inspiration from the time when dancing shoes and parties were fashionable, taking the designs of bedazzled low-heel retro shoes and the classic SHIATZY CHEN platform sneakers.

The two paintings are respectively applied to the embroidered silk mini bucket bag and the embroidered goatskin bag with a jade handle, which portray the firm and tender sides of women. The men’s bags include a mini messenger bag which is popular throughout different ages and with different genders, a tote that comes with a detachable clutch bag, which adds yet another poetic touch to the overall look.

With the coordination of clothing, colors, and accessories, the ultimate charisma and characteristics of females of different ages are fully profiled.
