A SEASON-FREE SEASON

MBFWI, taking place on October 12-16, will provide a creative season-free platform where the Spring-Summer 2021 season along with Fall-Winter 2020/21 collections will be presented to the end consumer. As always, MBFWI will enable industry professionals to explore the designs of the upcoming seasons. MBFWI will also open its doors to designer brands and designers that wish to present designs for different seasons within the same collection.

A COLORFUL AND RICH MBFWI CALENDAR

In addition to the runway shows, which were shot in the previous months at Galataport Istanbul and Tophane-i Amire Culture and Arts Center, a full calendar of events awaits the viewers throughout the fashion week. These include retrospective videos of the designers, backstage memories and similar creative content under the name of Visual Stories. In a studio built in Fişekhane, hosts will speak with designers and guests after each show in livestreams, which will also include a look into new collections, digitalization in fashion, and more.

Behind The Scenes talk series will host fashion photographers Emre Doğru, Emre Güven and Erdi Doğan, who turned their cameras to MBFWI and shot the collection lookbooks, Murathan Özbek, the director of MBFWI’s 15th season documentary, and Koray Birand, who directed the MBFWI promo.

PROMO FILM SHOT AT TURKEY’S UNIQUE DESTINATIONS

Shot on location in some of Turkey’s unique destinations, the video highlights the power of Turkish design on the occasion of MBFWI, the most prominent international event of the Turkish fashion industry, and also promotes the cultural and historic heritage of Turkey. The film was directed by the world-renowned fashion photographer and director Koray Birand, and styled by Burak Sanuk. The promo video opens in Istanbul and follows the models who wear looks from the 37 designers participating in MBFWI as they walk across some of Turkey’s famous attractions, ending in Istanbul, the heart of fashion.

The video’s cast includes Öykü Baştaş, the successful Turkish model who has walked the runways of numerous global brands. The video shoot took one week, spanned six cities and traveled 5,000km to feature Ani Ruins, Salt Lake, Sultan Marshes, Cappadocia, Mount Nemrut, Topkapı Palace, Galata Bridge, Sultanahmet and Salacak coast. A technical team of 25 and six models worked to create the video on location at altitudes ranging from sea level to 2,500 meters.
