Dior Talks features big names such as Penny Slinger, the iconic proponent of feminist surrealism and sexual mysticism talks art and social engagement.
To lighten the mood at this time of confinement, Dior unveils a new episode of DiorTalks on the topic of art and feminism, turning the spotlight on the socially-engaged artist Penny Slinger.
Specially for the autumn-winter 2019-2020 haute couture collection and at the invitation of Maria Grazia Chiuri, this inspiring figure paid tribute to the muses and, above all, to the energy and feminine essence that has always animated 30 Avenue Montaigne, from the petites mains to all the paragons of elegance who have been associated with the House and shaped its history.
She was inspired by the pulse and the spirit of each room, by each step on the iconic staircase at this unique address, which, for the show, she transformed and transported in her own surreal universe.
This bewitching scenography, which celebrates the Dior heritage, the strength and beauty of natural elements, and the diversity and uniqueness of women, subtly references her organic and resolutely feminist output.
These powerful collages call out and question archetypes and appearances, through her own body, symbolism and desire, dreams and freedom, the figure of Frida Kahlo who fascinates her – resulting in a wealth of captivating subjects discussed passionately in this podcast presented by Katy Hessel, curator and writer. More than ever, this fascinating aural odyssey represents a moment of escapism, dreams and stimulation.
Take care of yourself.
