Opening the #DiorWinter24 show, the first look embodied Kim Jones’s evocation of the legendary ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, bringing traditional tailored touches to rehearsal studio signatures.
At the convergence of the functional and the poetic, the utilitarian and the graceful, the Dior Winter 2024-2025 line – dreamed up by Kim Jones – merges the reality of ready-to-wear with the theatricality of couture in a quintessence of excellence.
Guided by the spirit of Rudolf Nureyev, the collection celebrates the beauty of ballet; an opportunity for the artistic director to pay a wonderful tribute to his uncle, Colin Jones, a dancer who became a friend of the star, whom he also photographed.
Permeated with absolute elegance, the looks reinterpret Dior’s archives with virtuosity: tailoring is reinvented with new volumes, slits, pleats and necklines, Monsieur Dior’s iconic bar jacket is fashioned into a masculine iteration, while jumpsuits, wool zippered shorts and second-skin ribbed knits recall nureyev’s unique style.
