“Without further ado, without even consulting the architect, I gave my approval and devoted everything I had to decorating my new home.” Such is how Christian Dior describes his love affair with his apartment at 7, Boulevard Jules Sandeau, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.
Fascinated by this passion for art de vivre, Cordelia de Castellane drew inspiration from this unique address – and notably from wallpaper decorated with flowers and birds – to embellish her latest collection for Dior Maison.
Elegant designs depicting clematis, peonies, dahlias, and swallows are enclosed inside carafes and decorative balls or transposed onto porcelain plates, and hand-painted placemats in natural linen. Three candleholders in matching shades further complete this line that combines heritage and modernity, echoing the lifestyle Monsieur Dior cultivated:“Living in a house that doesn’t look like you,” the couturier observed, “is a bit like wearing someone else’s clothes.”
