Step into the world of Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2025

Dior Haute Couture Show

Reawakening the essential themes pertaining to sartorial memory, the Dior Spring-Summer 2025 Haute Couture Show thought up by Maria Grazia Chiuri disrupts the order of time taking us back to a dimension that belongs neither to past nor future, between childhood and adulthood, dream and reality.

The Creative Director explores the idea of transformation inherent in creation; in this temporal paradox, she moves in total freedom, as if the mirrors that fill the couture studio could, similar to Alice’s looking glass, allow access to another realm.

Inspired by the Trapèze line – the young Yves Saint Laurent’s very first collection for Dior, presented on January 30, 1958 – the pieces evoke dresses beneath which the body disappears. The défilé reveals a series of encounters and unpredictable metamorphoses in wonderland, where the here and now continually play hide-and-seek.

The crinoline proves to be an extraordinary breeding ground for memories, yielding to the most excessive fantasies and motifs. This shaken cage concealing its construction discloses threads that stretch and undulate with every motion, enhancing light blouses sublimated by floral embroidery.

The Cigale silhouette – designed by Monsieur Dior for the autumn-winter 1952-1953 haute couture collection – is reproposed in the original moiré fabrics, adopted for a little skirt paired with a fitted tailcoat, accentuating the contrasting proportions. A fascinating odyssey in which the essence of fashion is to fulfill every desire.

The public will be able to discover the artwork of Rithika Merchant, translated into large-scale textile panels by Karishma Swali, the Chanakya ateliers and the Chanakya School of Craft, following the show, over five days – from January 28 to February 2, 2025 – in an exhibition open to all.
