Named Memories, the collection for men and women is inspired by Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci’s reflections on his formative years as a young designer, and is imbued with references to the places he visited – from London to India – the people he met and the music that informed him at the start of his career.
Memories continues to build upon the fashion house’s rich heritage and signature cues – from the Burberry beige colour palette and trench coats to classic tailoring and duffle coats – juxtaposed with new, modern silhouettes, prints and fabrications.
Renowned pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque and producer Arca performed a live soundscape curated for the show featuring Distant Places composed by David Chalmin, Fantasy in F Minor composed by Franz Schubert and Four Movements for Two Pianos composed by Phillip Glass.
Over 800 guests attended the show including Cate Blanchett, FKA Twigs, Lourdes Leon, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Odell Beckham Jr, Naomi Campbell, Micheal Ward, Skin, AJ Tracey, Kristen McMenamy, Mari Natsuki, Yolanda Hadid, Ladyfag, Luka Sabbat, Shay, Boychild, Wu Tsang, Lea T, Mahmood, ASAP Nast, William Djoko, Burna Boy, Dajana Roncione, Joy Crookes, Lous and The Yakuza, Rina Sawayama and Sippin’ T.
Both new faces and established Burberry models walked the show including Ugbad Abdi, Izaak Adu, Maxwell Annoh, Benji Arvay, Thialda Bok, Mariacarla Boscono, Alexis Chaparro, Sora Choi, He Cong, Lucas Davey, Matteo Ferri, Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Kacie Hall, Tara Halliwell, Nozomu Ito, Kristiāns Jakovļevs, Kendall, Tashi Jay-Kwayie, Amanda Martins, Hannah Motler, Reece Nelson, Usman Obe, Jay Park, Keone Pillay, Faretta Radic, Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls, Fran Summers, Mona Tougaard, Rianne van Rompaey and Astrid Voss.
The collection for men and women features classic Burberry trench coats, car coats, duffle coats and equestrian-inspired quilted jackets, alongside long collarless coats, tailoring, jodhpurs and fluted skirts – all in textural contrasts and new prints. Introducing the Olympia bag collection featuring a shoulder bag in three sizes and a crossbody bag. A supersized Pocket Bag, Society holdall and duffle bag in plaid also feature.
Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2020 runway show has been certified as carbon neutral and the house has taken measures to both reduce and offset the carbon emissions associated with the show.
