“I am extremely pleased to be back with APN73 to Milan which represents the city I am most creatively close to and whose heritage menswear calendar best reflects my aesthetic vision”.
Inspiration for APN73 AW21 stems from the Italian movies directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, one of the most iconic Italian talent and visionary man.
“We selected references for frames from his movies and combined these with paintings of Francis Bacon, which were a powerful source of obsession and inspiration for the same Bertolucci” said creative director Andrea Pompilio, “The blend and contrast between these influential figures personalities represented the initial stage of the creative process for the new collection.”
A PERSONAL NOTE 73’s AW21 collection is presented through the lenses of fashion movie VIRTUAL-REALITY.TV which, set on Hangzhou, was partially shot in JNBY’s newly inaugurated headquarters designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano. “While realising the movie for Milan fashion week, we thought we wanted to translate this traditional inspiration in a very contemporary fashion film depicting real life transplanted in a virtual setting”.
Deeply embedded in the Italia 60’s culture, APN73 AW21 collection will feature oversize shapes a diverse and bold color palette combining bright yellow, orange and green and electric blue melted with hints of natural warm colours such as camel, chocolate, coffee and grey applied to a variety of winter fabrics spanning felted wool, technical wool and combined with the checked and stripe patterns signature of Pompilio.
